It's a fun experience - the Burlesque Academy put so much into it to make it a great evening. Great community, lots of sharing and seeing new styles and ways to draw figures. I'll keep going. I thought Solange did a great job as an art model, which is a very demanding role, but then I'm biased, since I'm her Mom. ;-)

Unfortunately there was a Mariners game (next door) and parking became an issue. I was there but could not find parking and not willing to pay a premium rate charged by lots. Looks like a very nice venue...so I'd like to try again. If the organizers have any suggestions I'm interested.

This was my first time and everyone was friendly and made me feel welcome. Both models were very relaxed and helpful. I was disappointed that they did not consider photography to be an art form since the description of the MeetUp specifically stated all media encouraged and that is largely why I went. I did enjoy my time drawing, however.

My first time - great homey, friendly, warm, welcoming group. I appreciated the fresh, good coffee available (and thanks to Jeff for half-and-half and homemade healthy banana bread), and snacks provided by several attendees. The cost was so low I was very pleased. Comfortable, everyone treated respectfully (including our great model) regardless of level of ability. It is offered at the perfect time on Sunday morning. And right now the imported Japanese cherry trees were in full bloom on the quadrangle, just outside the building. :-)

All positives for the model and the Dr. Sketchy's crew, but something must be done about the venue, Julia's on Broadway. Julia's makes it very difficult to enjoy the sessions. For 90 min. the room was downright freezing. Not fun for the artists in coats and hats and even less fun for the model who was not even able to spend her break backstage since that space was even colder. Table service was slower and worse than usual. It was mentioned that Julia's was understaffed that night, but frankly the service has never been decent enough to give them a pass on this. I ordered food and a glass of water, then had to ask the waiter for the water two more times. When he finally brought it, it had no ice, which was only a positive due to the lack of heat in the room. The space is far too cramped for the number of artists who attend Sketchy's now. Even arriving 30 minutes early was not enough to get a seat in the first 3 rows. Dr. Sketchy's is great but Julia's needs to go.

I battled nasty rush hour traffic to get to this meeting only to find they no longer have a 4 pm Figure Drawing Class! It took me another hour in nasty traffic to get home!!!!! PLEASE REMOVE THIS CLASS ONLINE so other people don't make the same mistake,
