I made a living selling my art for many years. Due to life's twists and turns--I married a legendary msft software engineer; we started a our own software company back in the early eighties. He died 7 years ago and I've not done much art since then.
I want to get back into art, especially drawing. It's the most direct medium; that's why I enjoy it. When I was very young I had no limits, since I didn't have to make a living at it then. Nor do I now. My passion: drawing/painting living things.
Pencil, pen, mixed media, oil, sometimes watercolor and acrylic. May want to try three dimensional work but have no experience at it. Open to new experiences, since it's not a business for me anymore.
I've had extensive figure drawing and painting experience in the past, but none recently, and I'd like to get started again. Made my living selling art for many years.
I want to create art for myself, from a spiritual level, rather than simply as objects to sell to others. I've been been there and done that! I'll just let my new style develop naturally. At 60, I no longer need to do art as a business!
animals, birds, plants (my main subjects now and from the beginning), botany, spiritual growth, history, books, and a wide range of other things. Member of Mensa.
This group is just what I need to get myself back into art after many years of marraige, work in an unrelated field (software), sudden widowhood and many other things life has thrown at me. It is great because there is no pressure--no instruction--yet I can take a peak at others work around me. Many of them are highly skilled and they inspire me to go on, give me new ideas as to media and ways to work. It's a wonderful group and very modestly priced compared to a formal class.

Hi Megan! We've been missing you on Friday afternoons. I hope you're traveling or otherwise having fun. But just so we don't worry, maybe you could drop me an email. :)
Hi Megan! We missed you today and hope your knee isn't giving you too much trouble. I brought cookies from Larsons, too. :)
BTW, if you come tomorrow, you should use the elevator. It's straight across the lobby from the front desk.
Sorry about your knee! I hope it feels better quickly.
Hi Megan,
Click on Account, in the upper right of any Meetup page. Click on Membership and Communication in the left column. Edit settings for specific group. I'm not sure how to opt out of just 'Burien'. But you can look around this some more.
Sorry, Grego
Welcome, Megan! Great name! I've found a space for Friday afternoons and need to know how many would be able to make it. If we get enough people, I'll go ahead and rent the space.
Hi, Megan~ You must have caught that moment with your birdie yourself. My daughter is a photographer, but I can't operate any kind of camera. I used to have talent at sketching portraits, including self. Anyway, unselfconscious
music/body spontaneity is just plain fun.
Thank you for you kind words Megan. I really appreciate it. - Em
Hi Megan...I just found your group--we're in Columbia City and would gladly come over to Ballard for a meetup at your place. We also have several neighbors that have chickens that I could inform about this group.
We would be up for it (^^). Laura & Aaron
