Introduction

I'm a very left-brain centered guy trying to unleash his right-brain a little through art. My ultimate goal is to be able to create pin-up art ala Vargas or Elvgren or Olivia.

What are your passions?

Pin-up art, building models

What types of art materials/mediums do you like to work with?

Pencil for drawing, oil painting for figures. Still learning oils for real picture painting...

What is your figure drawing experience and what would you like from a figure drawing meetup?

Almost none - I've read some books on drawing and done OK with draw inanimate objects, failed about half the time on faces, and utterly at figures. All I want is a chance to work with folsk who know more than I.

Do you have a current art project? Idea? Do you need help with it?

Just my ongoing learning process, and trying to suppress my left-brain's need to quantify everything the right-brain wants to do.

Besides Figure Drawing - What Hobbies/Interests do you have?

Building models (airplanes, cars, figures), pre-historic anthropology, quantum mechanics, computer programming

Welcome, Jon! I'm glad you could join us. I want to invite you to check out the message board and the article about Gestalt Theory and the arts. If you feel like posting on the boards I could really use you help getting that off the ground. My hope is that we can use this site as a forum and a place to bounce ideas around. Thanks for joining Auburn Freethought Society. I hope you will be able to attend our first meeting on Saturday April 24th at 2:00 pm.
